One drug to rule them all: Researchers find treatment that kills every kind of cancer tumor

Researchers might have found the Holy Grail in the war against cancer, a miracle drug that has killed every kind of cancer tumor it has come in contact with.

The drug works by blocking a protein called CD47 that is essentially a "do not eat" signal to the body's immune system, according to Science Magazine

This protein is produced in healthy blood cells but researchers at Stanford University found that cancer cells produced an inordinate amount of the protein thus tricking the immune system into not destroying the harmful cells.

Are you ready for your Flood?

For those of us in Western Canada the idea of flood waters rings very true these past few days. With torrential rains and the bow river flooding most of downtown Calgary, the vivid images, pictures and video from the destructive power of that flood are clearly imbedded in our minds. The shocking thing for most people was just how fast those surging waters rose to dangerous levels. From reports of stadiums flooded, zoo animals being uprooted and flooded out, to the scary tales of people (75,000 of them) being awoken at 2am to get out of their houses and do it now! And of course the even more tragic news of those who have lost their lives because of it all. I can’t imagine what it would be like to be awoken at 2am with a police officer advising you to leave your house – immediately. Or perhaps you were one of the unlucky ones who got no warning before the flood hit and water poured in the windows of your home.

Our houses - Our homes - Our places of safety and sanctuary away from the raging chaos of the day. Yet here at a moment’s notice nature was literally beating down the walls of comfort. What panic and confusion they must have felt, and I wonder how many of them had the comfort of knowing their Savior during such turmoil.
